Die by the Sword

Making sword fighting as realistic as possible seems like a cool idea for a game. But as we've learning in the past, too much realism can bore you to tears. Luckily the game does offer a dumbed down version of the controls. If you are willing to put in the time (I wasn't), learning to master the controls can be very rewarding (from what I have been told). Even with the arcade controls this can be a fascinating game. It is a great feeling when you do pull off a masterful sword strike and cleave the head of your foe from it's evil torso. As you would expect, the difficulty of this game is very high. Your own character has damage modeling. This means if you get hit in the leg, your leg shows damage. If your leg is cut off leaving a bloody stump, you fall down. Some moments of the game are quite hilarious because of this. Though, it also can be frustrating. Learning to block would probably help. I did play with the games vSim sword mode a bit. What this does is allow you to use your mouse to simulate sword movements. You need to be smooth and accurate to pull these off. For me, I simply ended up swinging my sword like a buffoon. When I did connect a move, it was to wussy to actually to much damage.
