In the beginning
There was once a small Midwestern family...
Hey!, Check out the awesome clothes we had. Life in the 70's and 80's heh! That's me and my baby sister
Naomi you see in the picture. Anyway, I grew up in the La Crosse, Wisconsin area. I've pretty much been
a child of the Mississippi river (I don't swim in it though, ICK). I never seem to get very far from
it. My old man, being the outdoorsman that he is, dragged us out cat-fishing almost every weekend
during the summer. I guess you could say that is what killed my interest in the outdoors. I still
enjoy the beauty of it all. I just can't take too much of it.
Growing up in Wisconsin
Life was good, and the fun continued. I never could decide what I wanted to do. After high school,
I worked at about 10 jobs before I got my dream job at Best Buy (I still love that place).
Sticking me in the computer dept, was probably a bad idea on their part. :-) Anyway, I moved
on and found a sweet job at MicroAge - Solutions 2000. The company was a VAR (Value added reseller).
I worked as a computer tech for 3 years. I got to travel all over the area setting up networks
and fixing peoples computer woes. My passion for everything technology related grew and grew!
I used all computers from the sweet Apple IIc to the powerhouse (at the time) Dual P2/400 Compaq.
I try to keep myself as unbiased as possible. I never got into the cycle of flamng others
cause they didn't like what I liked. There's always some new toy around the corner that
could be better.
Move to Minnesota
After MicroAge closed shop, I had to move on. As luck would turn out. I found a small Multimedia
development company in Winona, Minnesota, Vanguard Technology Group. I quickly learned how to code
in Perl, javascript, and html. Along the way I found a new toy, LINUX. I also took over the job
of System Administrator and increased my skills in Unix and networking. In Winona I met my girl.
Karen. She worked for a Graphic Design studio. We had mutual friends and met at a news years
party. After spending three years in Winona it was time to move on. Karen and I decided that
we needed to see what her home city Minneapolis had to offer. So we packed up our toys, and
headed for the city.
